I still marvel at how easy it is to accumulate links with blogs. Also... and you alluded at this... by opening a blog on your hobby you're taking the first step in making your hobby your job. Additionally once your blog starts making money it will not be that difficult to turn your hobby expenses into business expenses (ie. writeoffs). Yes, blogs most definitely are linkbait.
