Why Registerfly Sucks
I’ve used Registerfly for a big chunk of my domain collection. Last month I got my credit card statement and the charges from them were close to $200. I registered 3 or 4 domains, and renewed about 2. That was well over $100 on there that was unaccounted for, enough for me to notice.
So, I sent them a message. In their reply I was told that the extra charges was from their auto-renew feature that didn’t work, and I shouldn’t use it anymore.
I’ve have had minor issues with Registerfly’s control panel in the past. However, none of the problems were so critical to their business operation.
Consider this: Auto renewing gives them a revenue stream that requires zero effort on their part. By forcing their users to manually auto renew I am guessing their churn rate has gone up substationally.
What this tells me is either Registerfly’s owner(s) are unaware of this or they are aware of this and don’t care or don’t understand whats going on. Thats too bad, because I’ve now ceased using them for new registrations and I will never recommend them again.
Instead try out Enom, Moniker, or just may be GoDaddy (they have a nasty habit of ransoming your domains over single spam compalints.)

I’ve had similar experiences with RegisterFly.
One time I registered 2 domains with them, got the confirmation emails and 2 days later I just found out the domains have not been registered.
All the domains I have transferred from them to another registrar still clutter their domain management panel.
I have had trouble renewing domains.
Their software sucks. You need to check every operation you do with them. The only problem I haven’t had is recurrent credit card charges.
I am gradually moving all my domains away from them. In 2 words: RegisterFly Sucks

I have been a loyal and satisfied RegisterFly user for 4 years now, until two weeks ago when I received my credit card statement and noticed payments for domains and services which I never purchased. I submitted a support ticket but am yet to receive a response; because of this, I am now using GoDaddy and am very happy with their system and support.
I had faith in RegisterFly but it looks like I was a sucked.
Good luck RegisterFly, you’ll need it!
As Hristo said, RegisterFly Sucks!

I’d also been a happy customer of RegisterFly for years until they held my domains hostage by charging my credit card for no reason and then insisting that I pay the unwaranted charges in order to get my domains back. If you’re financially dependant on access to your domains, prudence dictates using a more reliable registrar.

Registerfly facts: too many downtime for hosting server & e-mail server, customer supports are not good at all & can’t be called, their finance is evil.
So please dear friends, it’s not because I hate Registerfly, but it’s because I want to save more people from Registerfly’s cheating.
PLEASE DON’T EVER DEAL ANYTHING WITH REGISTERFLY, or you’ll regret…….
This is truly, you can search in Google:”How good is registerfly?”, 95% answered: Registerfly is FUCK !

Hello,
for several years I use RegisterFly to manage my and other domains without problems.
Auto-renew always succeeded.
But since June 2006 it give malfunction. They charged for renewing, but domains are don’t renewed. Often they dont’ give answer in their support-ticket-system and the chat-service is an horror.
An important domain is offline and in deletion-status.
Support of Registerfly don’t help me : I shall wait for realeasing and new registration.
And enom inc. will have 160 $ to secure my domain.
This is HIJACKING !

They offer geotrust ssl certs just to get people to come to their website and buy their own branded ssl cert because their cert generator does not work.
I tried it several times and it would error out and I left a support ticket about it and other customer support messages ended up in my ticket and confused the whole issue and they promptly closed the ticket with no help. I reopened it and got no where.
They had a 7 day refund policy and I couldn’t get any action out of them and was afraid the 7 days would be up and I would be stuck out money and no SSL cert.
The support ticket system was a joke, no action but they were quick to close the ticket with no help. The live chat person just argued with me and would not give me a phone number to talk to billing to get a refund.
I charged back on them and they lied and told AMEX that I got my certificate. AMEX saw it my way and gave me my money back.

Registerfly is definately the worst registrar EVER!!!
We use them for about 400 domains which we are at this moment transferring out of there. The charge your creditcard for renewals over and over and over!! Also their control panel is a HELL and most of the time SLOW.
Stay away from them and save yourself a LOT of time and money!

Overbilling, outrageous new overbilling, thank’s God my credit card declined the payment, they doesn’t answer, and goes on.

You guys are pussies. Regfly is great, they got all my domains in purple ink and even ate out my wife. I love these guys especially the supervisors who often call me at night to wish me sweet dreams.

Hey Guys
Anybody like hamburgers?
Registerfly will eat 1 hamburger for every domain you pussies cry about.
Right now thats about a million hamburgers.

I had four domains at r’fly…managed to get two of them out of the fire, and will let a third (unused) domain die a natural death. The fourth domain has been a nightmare, and I think r’fly will have a grip on it at least through January. Thankfully, I’ve not been ripped off (yet), but their customer service is the worst I’ve ever experienced with *any* company, *any* industry.
Sadly, the experiences I had were fairly good in the 2001-03 timeframe.
Comment by SJR — November 20, 2006 @ 7:13 pm
I won! I won!
I’ve had all the same problems others have had with Registerfly. I was so mad last night I didn’t sleep the entire night! I wanted some type of way to “get back” at them. Thought of a DoS attack…thought of spamming their exec’s email addresses…but I came to the conclusion that those methods were really bordering on the grey area of legality…so, I ended up submitting a support ticket with all my problems and complaints, concluding it by asking them to renew (or at the very least to TRANSFER) my domains to another registrar (or for them to at least give me the authorization code to transfer).
Yep, I submittied a support ticket. But we all know how kindly and effectively they answer those tickets, right?
So…I setup FireFox with the “ReloadEvery” extension. After I submitted the first support ticket, I setup firefox to reload the page after I clicked the “submit” button. What that does is also resend the POST data with the ticket submission. I set the reload to the mininum of 5 seconds. So every 5 seconds I’m generating a new trouble ticket in their system. After 90 minutes it genereated about 1600 tickets!
Well, that seemed to get their attention, and they have now given me an authorization code, and the domain is in the process of transfer. If anyone needs help with this, let me know!
Comment by William White — November 21, 2006 @ 10:58 am
Hi William,
I thought of a similar solutions although mine was manual and I spent ages putting up new support tickets to mulitple departments.
This was met with mulitple auto replies saying that this topic was covered in another thread.
I might try your way to get a better response.
I was also happy with Registerfly until they changed their methods and nothing worked properly.
Comment by David — November 28, 2006 @ 5:52 pm
Yeah I came to Regfly back in 2001 because I was pretty new to domain registering and back then there was Register.com and some others but being unfamiliar I had registered a domain b/c someone told me to and that MF tried to steal my domain by not putting my info on there and NOT answering my emails. He wanted me to buy 5 years with him and I couldn’t even forward a url I had to write this one guy to do it. So anyway, I finally told him that i had a new webmaster and I needed access to my domain info and I needed my domain to be freed from his grip or I would contact BBB. Then he basically charged me $25.00 to let it go and dumb me paid it just to get out. So I had my domain transferred to REgisterfly because I did a search and I found them and register.com and so Rfly had a cheap price and I went with it. So for a while they were fine. But I need a good service that is reliable. Rfly really is CRAZY they are a rip off. locking up your domain info putting protectfly so you can’t leave the adminstration info has support@registerfly.com so you never get emails to transfer out and good luck getting a transfer code.
anyway, I have been waiting since Dec.5th to renew a domain. They charged me and I’ve been CHARGED but the renewal info is not updated. site still down. I really am pissed. I actually am in process of updating all the info and double checking it all with register.com and godaddy to see if my who is info has MY personal info and when I finally get it all switched slowly i’m transferring out of Rfly.
all the admin info has to be pointed at YOU to begin with. If anyone is unsure about it. log on to Godaddy or Register.com and type in your domain. Find out Who IS info if it had support@registerfly.com
log on to your acct.
click manage domains
hit any domain you have
a box will come up
it will read Domain Contact Info
click the +
Click Configure
Make sure all your info is pointed at you and i’m sure it is but Rfly has it automatically set to them so you won’t know how to change or update it and LEAVE their azzes
Click UPDATE
w/i 24 hours it should reset to YOUR info
go back to godaddy or register.com
check who is info
once you see your admin info is pointed at YOU then you can try to transfer your domains b/c you won’t need Rfly to do it because you get the transfer links in some cases and you can simply transfer that way.
godaddy sends the transfer info to the Administration email address..for me that BS had been support@registerfly.com
which is non existent and the way they lock you down
so make sure that all of your administration information is pointed at you before you do any transfers
I had to call and get into arguments with agents at Rfly and ask same questions over and over and over until finally I wore someone down and they told me the truth.
F..k Rfly. I hope everyone and their dog drops them. they are lowsy lowsy service, too much downtime, domains sometimes don’t even show.
I rather pay higher rates for domains then have them.
Godaddy is a good service and inexpensive I recommend them or Register.com
good luck
signed
sick of RFLY’s Crap

This is the best analization of registerfly I can find.
Coming from a victim your replys hit every nail on the hammer.
They are using phone blocking if you try to get service. My number was blocked for the whole day. Other phones worked to be put in cue for 40 minutes at a time.
I was loyal and bragged about there service now the reality is constant humiliation.
Registerfly taught me what battered customer syndrome is.

Registerfly is stealing our domains
They don’t renew the domains in time
They don’t give as the auth code and they don’t unlock our domains to transfer them to another registrar so our domains are expiring and they use them.
(in the past they stole my domains www.cyprusltd.com and www.cyprus-ltd.com and now they Stole greek-tour.net, Your-Travel-Guide.net which expired and they didn’t renew them)
Perhaps registerfy.com and enom.com are the same company because registerfly.com stole my domains www.cyprusltd.com and www.cyprus-ltd.com and now I see that are hosted to enom.com and play ads for enom.com
They connect with advertising companies or they have their one advertising company and they take advantage of the being registars and they are stealing domains from their customers which they use them to show advertising links for them.!!!
Internet is full of complaints about registerfly, it is a fraud company.
How do you let them be in business for so long.
Please someone HELP ME in order to leave from these crops.
Comment by kriaras — February 26, 2007 @ 11:53 am
I have lost many domains as registerfly won’t take off protectfly so i can transfer the domains. They can’t renew anything becuase i have renew orders more than 30 days old that have not been filled.
They let a hacker take 3 domains last month and I never got them back. They just pushed several domains into another registerfly customer account. Why they won’t give them back i don’t know. I have open support tickets over 45 days old with out a single response.
I just want everything away from registerfly they have cost me thousands of dollars a week.
I can’t do any chargebacks till I get all the domains out of there accounts. As they told me they would freeze all my domains if i did.

READ ALL ABOUT IT!
Registerfly.com have lost their icann accredited registration, meaning they can no longer sell domains.
- Quite right, if I pay say so.
One thing I hate about RF though:
They do not respond to emails, tickets or even their ‘live support’ desk which they say is available at certain times, even though they ain’t.
Anyways 2 million domains are at stake here, I the the 2 million domains should be transferred free by the fee of ICANN. Seeing as it’s quite unfair as I cannot transfer my domains away.
Comment by Jonathan Jones — March 19, 2007 @ 3:33 am
I registered three domain names that were available–I checked register.com as well before I pulled out my credit card and told registerfly.com to register them for me. Two weeks later someone else registered on of these domains. I went to my registerfly account to discover that they had never registered these domain names, even through my credit card was charged $29.97 through PayPal. A week later when I was able to get through their horrible customer service, they said that their systems screwed up. I complained and they locked me out of my account. I can’t transfer my domains to another host. These SOBs need to be out of business.
Comment by Banda Bahadur — March 29, 2007 @ 3:27 pm
www.registerflytransfers.com Simply move off of them. I had a site on them and moved off from their crapola! I spent almost 3 months trying to get off these guys.
They overcharged my card nearly $300 bucks and I had to endure a tardfish for customer support.
I would have rathered been Bravehearted with a red hot poker than to endure another moment of their ignorance.
Has it come to the point where these kinds of business are becoming the norm?
Geesh!

I too registered a website at registerfly.com and opted for protectfly (private registration). But that did not work and when I searched with “Who is” my name and address were displayed.
Lodged a complaint, but they did not respond. After complaining several times, I received a simple email stating that the feature is not working for some technical problems.
I wonder if the feature is not working for several months (if not years) whey they are advertising on their website “PROTECTFLY FREE WITH NEW DOMAIN REGISTRATIONS”.
I feel they are intentionally cheating customers.
Comment by BS — July 16, 2007 @ 1:44 pm
Registerfly is no longer an accredited domain name registrar. They can not sell domain names. In my opinion any transactions they are still doing are fraud.
Comment by Andrew — July 16, 2007 @ 9:04 pm
They’ll always be selling domains, they just moved back to Tucows (OpenSRS) to handle the registration process. Being a new RegisterFly user, they neglected to tell me that all funds I deposit into my ‘Quick Checkout’ account must be manually reviewed. Not only did I wait over 48 hours to use my funds, the website never told me any of this and I spent forever searching for this elusive button to use the funds I deposited.
Quick to take money from you.

They sold me .be domains that they have no right to sell and they didn’t register them.
I continue to get notices asking me to renew domains they never registered in the first place even though I paid.
