I can’t remember the last time I saw viagra/cialis/offtopic spam appear in Google’s SERPs. Just a fluke or a sign of things to come?

  1. The website that shows up with the term Cialis in Google is actually on topic and does not sell any pills.

The most likely explanation is that the site has been hacked and is selectively showing information to Google. (If you go to the openwebware.com site itself you will see that the title and description meta tags do not mention Cialis at all.)

Google seems to be aware of this as evidenced by the “This site may be compromised” link in the SERPs.

I had something similar happen to me recently when some of my old WordPress sites (really old, I was running WP 2.0) started showing spam text only to those people following me in Google Reader. (My regular RSS feed was normal.)
