Registerfly days away from the ICANN death penalty

by Andrew

Just read this on Slashdot: “ICANN says it will terminate RegisterFly’s accreditation as a domain registrar if the company can’t fix its problems within 15 days

Question, what happens to the domain name portfolios currently registered with them? I’ve been spending the past 3 months trying to get domains out of Registerfly; the process has also left me seriously questioning the credibility of other registrars too, including eNom.

Update
: Registerflies is reporting that Registerfly has been hijacked by a (former?) owner.

  1. I’ve never really dealt with registerfly but I’ve heard a lot of people complain. If they can’t meet the standards I hope they indeed do get shutdown. That’s something that I was curious about too — where do the current domains with them go? I haven’t found an answer as of yet.

  2. Still waiting on my domain (1) trapped at registerfly!
They say it doesn’t exist but it’s in my CP yet I can NOT renew, transfer, update DNS etc :(

  3. Any thoughts on a backup plan? I managed to get everything out of RF, but if Enom ran into problems I would be in a world of hurt!

  4. You’ve got good reason to question the credibility of eNom too. I’ve been using bulkregister for many years but after eNom bought them it has been going down hill - fast!

The bulkregister/eNom system doesn’t work properly anymore, and their support is almost non-existant. So I decided to shift to another registrar and then needed to transfer my domains - what a insane tasks this has suddenly become with bulkregister/eNom - e.g. eNom decided to change all the domains to having eNom as registrar instead of bulkregister which lead to a f***load of problems in regards to getting transfer keys etc. - Also, eNom systems holds the domains for exactly 5 days after a transfer request, so domains won’t get transferred until exactly before the transfer request expires!

My opinion on the “changes” eNom made after taking over bulkregister, is that they’re some kind of harassment of those who’ve decided to leave.
