Is it stealing when…

by Andrew

Google indexes the download page for your hot new “Day Job Killer” ebook and forum users decide to tell their friends all about it?

May be your opinions are different, but $98 for 69 pages makes that 50-some page Rich Jerk ebook a deal for $50 (altough right now they seem to be selling it for $9.)

Time for someone to read about robots.txt!

  1. Wow Andrew, you got right onto this story! It’s not stealing when someone markets a product that can actually help you and is original. The stuff in this ebook is crap. Even more so than most other ones I’ve wasted my time looking at. It’s just another ebook explaining how to join an affiliate program, use adwords, and then promote his ebook to your friends to recoup his insane price. Simple as that.

This guy is obviously a moron for not password protecting the download area. You’d think someone that was able to “cheat the system” with making money would also be able to block access to his download area from Google’s spiders.

  2. *shrug* Leaving something like this, which is arguably their core product, to be spidered by google is a mistake. Not noticing the obvious spike in downloads is just silly. As creators and sellers of an Internet marketing product, they should really know better.

That being said, I’m already googling for “pdf download

  3. I wonder if this is a common occurance, or if Chris just dropped the ball in a major way? Either way, I don’t see it as stealing in any way. At least any more than reading any other page you find on Google is stealing.

  4. Pretty funny. I was able to grab a copy. It’s even funnier considering they MOVED the download page — but left the PDF file in the same spot! So you can’t access the download page but you can simply download it directly (from the indexed pdf’s url).

  5. I think it’s just a testament to why you shouldn’t waste your money on these things. These guys don’t have a clue .

  6. I’m sick of this Bullshit… Does anyone have the balls to get back at all this nonsense. BTW… My website is simply a fabrication of another bullshit con that will probably never get indexed…

Let me know… I’ve got a few ideas. Anyone know Plato’s Republic? Might be time to indoctrinate that on the web. Even if we can’t in our own gov’t.
